Superb TFT that looks great. Easy to install with VGA cable supplied. Not tried DVI, but display looks good with VGA connection.
Can't rate it a 5* because speakers are poor, but who cares, it's worth the money for the TFT on it's own.
Next day delivery, well impressed.
Monitor has a dead pixel but no major issue. Good response times, uses a DVI (bonus) and has basic built-in speakers.
Plenty of others have reported a single dead pixel but they have been erased.
Ordered and received next day. Brilliant service from Dabs! Plugged in, and set up in seconds. Screen very bright. Changed background to black to check for dead pixels pixels and found one stuck on red! Returned and ordered another one, came next day. New screen also has dead pixel this time green! A bit fed up now. My wife wanted to order a brand name but I persuaded her to go for the Hanns-G. Think she may have been right! Will return and consider a different make/model.
Within 7 months a cyan coloured line appeared vertically across the screen.
Not reliable...
Here is my opinion after having the unit for 24 hours.
Firstly I'm reviewing this on its VGA performance, for some reason that I haven't had time to work out yet my pc crashes everytime I try to access the internet when I have DVI connected, I'm pretty sure this is a problem on my pc not the monitor.
Starting up couldn't be easier, connect to the pc, turn on, turn your pc on and its working, no need to install any drivers.
I'm running it on 1440x900@60 hz, running at 75hz makes text a little hard to read.
General performance is pretty much spot on, colour and contrast are great, but.....I don't play games on my pc but I'm not sure this is the monitor for gamers, there is a slight lag on horizontal movement which I think gamers will notice, surprisingly on a 5 ms monitor this is more noticeable than on my 12 ms tv,
movies are pretty good despite this, the ws makes a large difference,
overall I'd say a good general monitor, but not sure if its for avid gamers
For desktop app's and gaming this monitor is superb. But unfortunately DVD playback is TERRIBLE! Everything looks washed out and grainy (even with a DVI cable). So Im sending mine back for a replacement.
Great monitor in every way, APART from very bright orange dead pixel right in the centre of the display. Will have to ditch as soon as I can afford to get another as the pixel is very distracting. Think carefully before you buy. . .
Service from them and the couriers has been great. I can't say the same about the monitor. I've had it for 6 days (since 12/6/06) and already its gone wrong, Stuck pixels appear everywhere flashes of pink lines fly across the screen when watching films. A bargain? no - that’s the price you pay when opt for a company you don't know - Hanns G ATI 9600XT - Colours ok no ghosting too bright auto button has stopped working Luckily dabs has a 28 day return policy for faulty products with free pick up so I’ll get my money back. My advice is to pay a little more and hopefully these quality issues won't occur I’ve got the BenQ 19" dabs have and that has been trouble free for months. The experience has been disappointing. I used the customer reviews as a final push to buy, won't make that mistake again. Do a lot of research from independent reviewers first, unfortunately there aren't many for this monitor
2 dead pixels I had on this one, even the plastic bits looked like they come out of a molding carved by a visually challenged production employee, I did not want to risk to get an other one as my customer had to wait another week if the next one was the same so I went to Arg0s to get a 19" Acer for a tenner more that was fine. I must say that the returns are better organized with Dabs now no complaints there, I would recommend to spend a bit more on a monitor and get better quality to enjoy
this monitor may impress you if your switching from a crt old style monitor, but for those who arent the main problems are :-
terrible speakers !
very tinny and have a horrible high pitched background whine
on them when turned up above 70%
of volume scale
this monitor is not suitable for
gaming because the speakers just arent up to it !
also, the glare on this monitor
is unbearable - not a good choice for prolonged IT use
. ive switched to an iiyama
monitor now
