I bought this because I could not get hold of the Benq 19 inch monitor for the same price.

I am so glad that I did. It has a widescreen feel about it, excellent quality image.....NO dead pixels!!!!!

Would definately buy again if the wife would let me!!

Fantastic and inexpensive for the spec

After getting sick of the amount of space and electricity my 19" and 15" CRT monitors (dual display goodness) were taking up I thought I'd best get 'em changed. I didn't fancy spending a shed load of money on them, however I did want something that was at least 19" in size, has a DVI input and a fast refresh rate. This monitor fitted the bill perfectly and the fact that it's widescreen made it even better! I got one screen for xmas, then ordered the second one on boxing day (with a DVI cable). No dead pixels on either.

The picture is nice and sharp - it made my old 19" CRT seem fuzzy. The colours are nice and contrasty and it has enough brightness to melt your retinas (I've got mine turned quite far down). They look good on the outside of the screen too - thin, uncluttered bezel and nice stand.

Now for the downsides: Tidying my desk takes longer now I can fit more junk on there and now I'm going to have to rely more on my radiator, rather than the CRTs for warming my room.

Very smart and bright had it up and running out of the box within 15min. No dead pixels. Initially ran it off a vga cable, to see the difference when running through the DVI. The DVI interface give a crystal clear sharp picture, I should have bought a DVI interface sooner. The speakers leave a lot to be desired, so I'll just continues using the ones I've had for years.

The interface is a DVI-D I've got it linked to by graphics card with a DVI-D dual link cable.

Great

Dead easy to set up, just plugged it in and turned on computer. Once in Windows, selected 1440x900, and there we go; beautifully crisp screen, perfect size, clear text etc. Works without drivers supplied. I found I had to turn the gamma down to 0.75 on my graphics card control panel (catalyst driver ATI 1900xtx)and the brightness significantly down on the montitor; this screen is bright! Colours are great, screen looks very neat and aesthetically pleasing. The buttons are well hidden, but rather difficult to find and press, so it loses one star for ease of use. Other than that, no dead pixels, and it just looks stunning! I have played Half-life 2 and Far Cry so far, which both intrinsically support widescreen gaming. They look STUNNING, it is well worth getting a widescreen monitor now that games are starting to support it. I noticed no ghosting and no lag.. Only had the monitor for 4 days, so can't comment on its long-term durability, but 3 year warranty is good.

Pleasantly suprised

Very impressed by this monitor - it's much better than I expected at this price point. The image is crisp, bright, uniformly illuminated and has excellent contrast. Automatic synchronisation to analogue signals (at the correct resolution) works much better than some more expensive monitors I have used.

There is really no need to buy a more expensive model.

Nice monitor at a good price
Reviewed by Justin. Review Posted 04/11/2006

My main use is editing photo's in Photoshop, so I needed a monitor with a good panel which reproduced colours accurately.

I've not yet calibrated the monitor, but the colour reproduction looks very, very good. This panel could certainly get away with being placed in a monitor selling for more than double this price.

I was lucky enough not to have any dead/stuck pixels !

If I had to pick out some bad points (and this is picking them out just for the sake of it). It would be the speakers and the stand. The stand is pretty cheap and they are better on more expensive monitors. Dont get me wrong, it is solid and holds the monitor firmly, but theres little adjustment.

In my opinion, the most important thing about a monitor is the display and this one produces a fresh, colourful and vibrant display, which is what matters to me.
