No Problems Here

This product I have no put into 4 houses. Mine, my dad's and two friends. It always works, never drops the connection. Is happy with apples and pcs on the same network wireless and wired. It has a very good control panel with intuitive design. Anyone having problems with this device is probably experiencing user error and the denial they did something wrong. Make sure you get ALL the settings from your ISP.

DG834G Solid, Stable and Reliable

I have bought around 5 of the DG834G Netgear routers now, both the old style larger silver units and the newer white units. They have all been installed with minimal fuss and upgrading the firmware has been simple. I have been able to remotely alter the setup from my office and control when the kids can log on and off the internet. As for people complaining about loosing connections, I find that in 100% of the times I have had this issue that it relates to the BT line and not the router.

Easy peasy

So much easier to install than I thought. Set up as an access point and was up and running in minutes. Using a WG311 PCI adapter to connect was a breeze. Only down side was a mishap with a WEP password which stopped me from accessing the router to reset! Needed to connect with a LAN cable to get this sorted. Beware if your PC doesn't have a LAN port.

Using BT for ADSL access and the set up is easy. Modem auto detected the required settings. All I needed to enter was my user name.

Simple, simple simple. If I can do it then anyone can.

Fantastic piece of hardware

I've had this unit for 2 months now. Initially I found it a bit flaky, logs not showing up and wireless speeds only showing 11mb/s status. I hesitantly upgraded the firmware to 1.03 (which was successful) and all these issues were resolved. Device has been very stable and I really can't fault it. Easy set up and nice management interface. As far as security goes, check out "Shields up" from www.grc.com that'll prove your firewall is working.

I didnt read any negative reviews about this product until after i ordered it so was a bit apprehensive when it arrived!, but I neednt have been, it was a doddle to set up and works a treat. I use it with a WA511 card in my laptop and get a good connection all over the house. Word of praise for the NetGear helpdesk also, i had to contact them to know how to open some ports for access to certain sites and they were very knowledgeable and helpful. Full marks all round!

DG834G

Small and neat package; very easy setup via Netgear SW. As with all things Netgear if it works quickly out of the box your are OK if it doesn't you are in for fun and lots of long conversations with India ! VPN works fine (one of the main resons for having the box is to connect to me workplace)so its strange to see a number of reviews stating that VPN is an issue ? so overall a good buy just make sure that you install it on a known good working ASDL connection or you will spend a lot of time trying to undertand why it will not work.
