Whether you're looking to evolve your digital strategy to support hybrid or e-learning, or you just want to learn more about 1:1 technology, we're here for you. Working closely with world-class device partners like HP, Microsoft Surface and Lenovo, our experts will guide you through every step of your 1:1 deployment. From start to finish.
Empower learners to do more
A 1:1 programme moves technology out of the traditional ICT suite and directly into the hands of each individual learner. Wherever they’re learning and whatever the lesson, a device for every pupil is a real enabler for improved learning outcomes.
It ignites creativity, encourages independent thinking and allows personalised learning experiences that support each individual student’s needs.

When teamed with the right apps and a flexible Cloud Learning Platform, 1:1 devices could make a massive difference to everyone in your school, college or MAT community. Both in and out of the classroom.
For students
- Improve engagement and promote independent working
- Adapt the learning experience to suit each student – great for supporting learners with SEND
- Access everything from anywhere – in class, in the library or at home
- Better prepare students for the world of work
For teachers
- Break free from traditional teaching formats and bring learning to life
- Save time on everything from lesson planning to marking homework
- Use audio and video notes to speed up marking and give more meaningful feedback
- Easily track student progress
For leaders
- Achieve a more equitable and adaptable learning experience for all
- Be remote ready and ensure learning continuity should unexpected circumstances force school closure
- Improve sustainability by reducing physical teaching resources like photocopied worksheets and books
Our education specialists are here to support you at every step of your 1:1 deployment journey
Step 1:
Create your 1:1 milestone plan
If you’re struggling to get started, then consider a BT 1:1 planning workshop. It brings key stakeholders together to help you think through your 1:1 approach and create an action plan.
Our workshop will help you assess where you are now with your EdTech plans, where you want to be and how you’ll get there.
Step 2:
Get your connectivity right
The 1:1 experience for teachers and students can only be as good as your underlying network performance.
We’ll help you assess your existing internet connectivity, Wi-Fi and security to make sure it’s ready to cope with an influx of additional devices. And if it’s not, we’re here to help you get it right.
Step 3:
Choose your 1:1 platform and apps
The heart of your 1:1 deployment is the "e-learning ecosystem" or platform you select, such as Microsoft 365, Apple iCloud or Google G Suite.
This choice could be influenced by the apps you’d like to run and in turn, may also sway your device decisions. We’ll guide you through the options.
Step 4:
Decide on your devices
Windows, Apple or Chrome devices? We work with all the top manufacturers of education devices like Acer, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple, Asus and Microsoft Surface.
There’s a perfect device for every need and budget, be it a laptop, tablet or convertible. We’ll help you decide on the right make and model for your teachers and learners.
Step 5:
Select accessories and service wrap
Accessories like headsets can add more functionality to help learners enjoy a better, more focused 1:1 experience, whilst a charging solution will make sure devices are always ready to go.
To protect your investment, consider adding a rugged case to prevent breakages, or an extended warranty. We offer it all.
Step 6:
Deploy and manage devices
If you have IT experts in-house, then modern deployment and MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools can help them to simplify the set-up and ongoing management of your devices.
But not every school or college has access to people with these skills. That’s where BT can help with a range of technical services. And we’ll help with in-life management and software licensing too.
Step 7:
Teacher training and CPD
Through our network of professional learning experts, we can train your whole faculty, so they feel confident to use both their devices, and whatever apps you choose to support your e-learning approach.
And if they need it, we can also provide training for your IT staff so they can better support users and manage your device estate in-life.
Step 8:
Explore 1:1 funding options
Got available budget? Simply buy your devices and accessories outright.
If not, we can help with alternative ways to fund your 1:1 investment. Take a look below.
Buy devices outright - Capital Expenditure (CAPEX):
If you have available budget, buying your devices and accessories outright is a straightforward option. You'll own the devices from day one and make your own decisions about how long into the future you use them for.

Lease devices - Operating Expenditure (OPEX):
Leasing can be a great way to secure the devices and accessories your 1:1 programme needs now, without having to find upfront budget to cover the costs. Instead of owning assets, you make regular payments, usually monthly, to use them for an agreed length of time.

Trade-in your old devices - Realise residual value:
Your old laptops, desktops and tablets could be worth more than you think. Ask us about device trade-in which if available, can help to offset the cost of investing in new models.
