Write a review for the Crucial 2x512MB 240Pin DIMM PC2-5300 NonECC Unbuffered CL5 here!
Despite the previous review I will be buying this memory with no concerns about reliability. I've bought Kingston and Crucial memory dozens of times, and have never had a single problem.
In 14 years I have never had to return either Kingston or Crucial memory. The previous reviewers symptoms are exactly those you get when memory has been damaged by static, and make me wonder if proper anti-static precautions were taken when installing the memory.
Memory chips are marked "static sensitive" for a reason. Shocks that you don't even feel yourself can completely fry parts of the chip, causing unpredictable crashes.
I have this in an ASRock Mother board (ConRoeXFire-eSATA2) and have had no problems with it at all and like the other reviewer, I have never had any trouble with Crucial memory.
i bought this ram thinking it would give a goog boost to my pc. i though the recommended for vista was a extra assurance that it would be ok. i know i had the right type of ram but i still cant belive that i got this ram and the first lot was faulty and then i got my replacement and this was faulty aswell. i have now got a refund from dabs.com although its more to do with crucial than dabs and i am dissapointed with crucial.
Bought this memory as a replacement for my existing DDR PC3200 memory on an ASRock Dual VSTA motherboard with Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz CPU. I used the existing DDR memory on another PC and thought this DDR II memory would give a slight boost to the Core 2 setup. Unfortunately the result was very dissapointing with the memory being auto detected by the BIOS as 533Mhz rather than the rated 667Mhz. I had decided to live with this rather than go through the hastle of returning the goods, however that wasn't the end of the problems. The PC which is running XP MCE 2005 reboots randomly; the Event Log shows the errors to be 'Bug Checks'. Running Memtest from a Linux live CD shows that the memory is indeed faulty as errors occur on test 7 (Random patterns) There's not many errors, but clearly more than zero is too many. NOT HAPPY! I have bought Crucial memory twice now and both times I have had problems!! Will be contacting DABS and requesting an exchange or preferably an alternative product.
