This is a PCI 64 card & some notes from the Instruction Manual, for consideration before purchase.
'A 64-bit PCI slot is REQUIRED for a 800 Mbits/sec. data transfer rate.'
'If you are using the PCI1394b card in a 32-bit slot, make sure that the exposed end of the card is not in contact with any conducting parts on your motherboard. Not all motherboards allow 64-bit cards to fit into 32-bit slots.'

Fitting the card into a 32-bit slot was easy, even if it meant adjusting another card to be clear of any contact points on m'board. Driver install was easy but this missed the point, as the whole purpose was to get 800 Mbits/sec or Firewire800 transfer speed! So still at Firewire400 with my 32-bit PCI slots! If only this had been clearer... To connect my Firewire800 device, purchasing 9pin-6pin cable: quicklinx: 4026WS mfr#: 1394_96_10 £12.81 inc vat would be the better choice!
