Works fine
Reviewed by Steve. Review Posted 25/03/2009
Delivered promptly and on time. Everything was in the box as stated and it was very simple to install. I ran the software CD on both PCs (Vista) and the little switcher programme installed without difficulty. Plugging in the cables was straightforward and obvious - the diagram in the instruction booklet was clear and unambiguous. Operation is also simple. You end up with an icon on the taskbar showing either '1' or '2' depending on which computer you are currently working on. Switching is straightforward: hit scroll lock twice and that's it, along with the usual dee-dum USB noise/alert. You can also switch using the buttons on the little box itself but I've not bothered. The software (Windows-only) gives you some other options but I've not bothered with it since installation. A good bit of kit!

EDImax/StarTech 2 port KVM
Reviewed by Open PC. Review Posted 19/11/2008
This is being sold under the EDImax and StarTech brands. One is cheaper, so buy that one...
As mentioned by another reviewer, works fine with a USB keyboard and mouse that uses one USB dongle (connected into KVMs USB keyboard connector).
When you select one PC, the other sees the USB keyboard & mouse disappear. Similarly the selected PC sees them appear. i.e. hot plug will occur & associated pop up notifications.

Great product
Reviewed by Sam Thompson. Review Posted 10/10/2008
Pretty good product. Does exactly what it says on the box. In case anyone is wondering, you don't need a USB mouse & USB keyboard together - it is possible to have a single USB dongle which (wirelessly) connects to a mouse and a keyboard. To get your machine to display its correct resolution on boot, just make sure your KVM box is set to receive input from your booting machine.
A couple of minor quibbles: using virtualisation software (such as VMware or Virtual PC) can be problematic. Just be sure to unplug the USB cable from your alt computer (ie. the one not running the virtualisation software). Also, if I was being really picky, in Windows 9x/XP/Vista, during switching machines, you do get that "dee-dum , dee-dum" (USB removed/detected) noise.
