A very handy piece of kit!

I have put an 80Gb SATA drive in my Icybox caddy and have installed a full copy of Xubuntu linux to it with no problems.
The data transfer rate is good and the unit itself is small and good-looking. It comes with a useful leather(ish) wallett to keep everything together which also serves to prevent some knocks.
This unit definitely only needs one USB port - the second supplied cable is purely for additional power should it be required (if your notebook's USB port is underpowered, for example).
The drive is recognised immediately under WinXP and Linux, with no drivers required although Win98 drivers are supplied.
All in all, a well thought out package (and, of course, speedy delivery).

I'd like to correct myself. This caddy does not need 3 connectors, it will run off just the USB cable, but it does not mention this in the instructions. As such, this device works very well, it only requires ONE socket on my laptop now, and does everything it should. Clearer instructions would be beneficial, but apart from this it is a good purchase.

Excellent delvery, ordered friday arrived moneday.
But, this caddy requires 3 USB sockets. Two are for power and the nother one for data, I'm not an expert, but I reckon they could've integrated the 2 cables!
