Write a review for the HP Colour LaserJet 2840 All-in-One series Printer / Fax1 / Scanner / Copier here!
I am now just buying my third unit. Great all round All-in-one and for the price with cash back not to be missed!
Networked they are easy to use for scanning to. Saves on desk space!
Don't believe all the guff you see here - this is a great piece of equipment at a fantastic price with very low running costs! It might be a little noisier than others - but the output is outstanding. If you need more memory, just pop on to www.crucial.com, pick up a bargain and pop it in yourself! With £200 cash back - what more could you want?
Generally works fine as specified. One problem is that certain graphics can take literally 10 minutes to achieve 'first page out'. HP can offer no solution or work-round. This may be common to other printers but is very frustrating.
Plus points - great printer, very good quality B&W and colour prints. Very easy to set up & use. Mine is set up as a network printer, and most features are available from your desktop, even programming phone numbers into the fax memory. Useful button to scan direct to a folder on your computer.
Minus points - yes, it is a bit noisier than some printers, but in an office enviroment its fine.
Great features however noisy and slower than other manufactures
This unit is full of useful features and very easy to install for a almost anyone however to take advantage of all features available is best to have it professionally installed by someone.
The features included network faxing, scanning, printing and even scan to PDF! So it does do same thing as the £6000.00 units but much much slower and noisier when it comes to printing, especially in colour as it requires time to spin the toners and etc…
I have installed the Epson version of this and is much quieter and slightly faster however features are rather restricted compared to the HP model so that is the only reason I recommend the HP model, I hope HP fixes/upgrades these issues on the next model as they will certainly sell more then.
This is without doubt the poorest product I've ever bought from HP and I've owned many of their printers over last 15 years.
This one replaced a far superior Officejet 7140. Problems include: failure to print simple spreadsheets because of lack of memory. Repeated paper jams.
Spurious wrong paper size messages when printing multi-pages so you have to stand at printer and manually enter size for each page.
Excessive noise when printing and also when it carries out repeated scheduled maintenance tasks.
Cannot access toolbox software so any settings must be changed manually on printer.HP Helpdesk cannot resolve this issue.
Very slow startup and hideously slow first page printing.Mediocre print quality for laser device. Jet is actually better.
Expensive print media cost - expect to pay around £90+ for each colour cartridge and around £100 for imaging drum.
Mine's for sale after only 5K copies. It's a dog. look elsewhere.
