Write a review for the Belkin Network USB Hub here!
Not many things computerwise do what they say but this is an ACE product had been waiting for ages for something that worked on a wireless network. Print servers are OK but this is so much better/easier. Only slightly tricky piece in the setup allowing through your security (ONECARE in my case) is covered by an easy walk through screens, and if I can anyone can. Mine is running beautifully on 2 computers with a USB hard disc and an Epson printer. Remember to set the properties of the printer in the hub to share.
Awesome, there's no other way to describe this thing. I was expecting to spend a few hours to figure how to set it up. In reality it took me the time to plug it in and install the softare. Absolutely flabbergasted it all worked first time around! Well done to Belkin. The only down side i have found so far is that it despite having it's own power supply it does not allow external harddrives (e.g. portable laptop drives) to be connected to it (it complains that a device is drawing too much current and should be disconntected, the software then does not correctly detect that it has been removed and subsequently requires a system reboot to reset that software warning). Drives with their own power should have no problem. Other than that connecting to a usb device is completely transparent. I'm well happy with this gadget. Highly recommended.
here is the link for the mac os x driver http://www.belkin.com/support/product/?lid=en&pid=F5L009
That's a shame. Might have bought one if so.
An excelent product, very easy to install, and very easy to use.
Fantastic idea, even printer infomation is bi-directional, not something that is easy to achieve with normal print servers. I have it working with an Epson printer a Cannon scanner and various external hard drives, with no problems at all. A must buy!
I have a host based printer, aswell as a multifunction scanner/printer that I wanted to share on my network, A print server won't do the job so this was a godsend.
Really easy to set up once it was plugged into my wireless router all I had to do was install the client software and everything worked.
Best bit of Kit I've used in a long time. Easy to install and had it working in minutes. Saves a lot of wires being around and can put my printers and extra hard drives all in a seperate room out of the way. Well done Belkin.
I have installed this product on my network and it works well with the computers running Windows XP and Vista.
Unfortunately it does not work with the older computers on the network which run Windows 2000 etc.
I contacted Belkin Tech Support and was instructed to buy a copy of Windows XP or Vista and install the one copy on ALL of the older computers. Obviously the copyright laws in India differ from ours in the UK.
It is unfortunate that there is no way to configure the unit to work with the older versions of Windows as I was able to access the device through the network from Internet Explorer using the IP address 192.168.2.51
Now my home network may be odd but not too unusual. I have a TV tuner which uses a USB virtual network to communicate my PC. Guess which network the control center app. wanted to talk to. Tech support was a nightmare of misdirection(it is not a network product) and call disconnection. Having told them I could access the Web management console I was put through a number of pointless tests before being elevated, no call back as of yet. My solution was to Google "Broadcast Addresses" as there was no documentation on how to use this setting on the device.
Great device and I really love it. But Belkin's poor customer support may have seen this product returned.
Great to finally have a product that allows you to connect usb devices to network. Pro: Devices work as if connected to pc,etc. Con: USB speed is not usb2 (480mbps), but Ethernet 100 mbps therefore 1 fifth of speed. Should have used gigabit ethernet to have allowed USB for fully work.
