Description

The Vigor 2820 series is DrayTek's flagship premium ADSL router/firewall family. PC Pro says "For business, it's an obvious choice".Compatible with all variants of ADSL the Vigor 2820 can also be used for cable-modem and leased line applications thanks to its additional WAN port (Ethernet). A Gigabit Ethernet port on the LAN side provides high speed connectivity for your server. Security features include content filtering, web application controls and an object based firewall management system.

  • Robust and comprehensive firewall

Security is taken seriously on the Vigor 2820 Series. The firewall features measures for protection against attacks including Dos (Denial of Service) attacks, IP-based attacks and access by unauthorized remote systems. Wireless, Ethernet and VPN are also protected by various protection systems. A DrayTek object-based firewall allows even more setup flexibility than ever, enabling you to create combinations of users, rules and restrictions to suit multi-departmental organizations.
  • Dual-WAN load balancing and backup

As well as the primary ADSL interface, the Vigor 2820 features a secondary WAN port for Internet access. This is an Ethernet interface and can connect to a second ADSL modem, cable modem or any other Ethernet-based Internet feed. The secondary interface can be used either for WAN-Backup or load balancing.
  • Voice-over-IP features

The Vigor 2820 Series 'V' models build on the established DrayTek VoIP pedigree by adding even more new features. Twin analog phone ports and an FXO analog line port provide full PSTN and VoIP integration on the same phones, via both the Internet and your regular analog line. The two phones can be used independently and simultaneously for both incoming and outgoing calls.
  • 3G cellular data features

The Vigor 2820 Series's USB port can host a compatible 3G modem or cellphone for access to the cellular network for full Internet Access. Most UK networks now provide high speed HSDPA data connections at up to 3.6Mb/s download speed. The 3G connection can be used as your primary/only Internet access, or as backup to your main ADSL line connection. This is not only ideal for homes or offices which don't want to pay fixed line + broadband rental, but also for temporary locations, or those to where fixed lines aren't available.
  • Dial-up backup

If you rely on your Internet connection, you can allow for ADSL failure by adding dial-up backup to your Vigor2820. Dial-up backup uses a 'good old-fashioned' analog modem to dial a backup ISP in the event your ADSL line or ISP fails, either temporarily or for an extended period. The add-on analog modemprovides 'V92' connections which is somewhat slower than your broadband connection but certainly usable for light web browsing, email and all other online activities which you really can't do without.

Great unit. You wont be dissapointed.

Ive had one since December and like all the other Drayteks I have owned over the last 10? years it was simple to set up and works perfectly. Im here today to buy another one for my dad which replace his aeging Vigor2600+. Ive tried all brands and Draytek are the best IMHO. My X had a really crappy (BT) ADSL broadband connection, no router would work with it. BT said the service was fine haha. Only the Draytek would pick up a signal and allow a diagnostic. The BT router and a Dlink router.. (which I rate to be a decent cheap router by the way) failed to get any signal. Ive never tried a Cisco yet so maybe a better router than the Draytek exists but Cisco are mega bucks? Buy Draytek and scorn all lesser makes.

Good interface

I now have 11 of these in remote student houses and they are by far the best I have used so far (and I've tried most!). Excellent reliability and web interface for troubleshooting. Bit pricey but highly recommended if you need something that works. I have not had the problem with the DHCP server mentioned in another review.
