Description
This D-link DGS-1210-28 switch is a 24-port Gigabit Switch that is part of D-Link's 3rd generation of Web Smart Switches that integrates advanced management and security functions for performance and scalability. With D-link Green technology now in its second generation, this D-Link DGS-1210-28 provides a complete, affordable and eco-friendly solution for small and medium businesses (SMB).
Seamless Integration
This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch includes 24 10/100/1000 Mbps ports capable of connecting to existing Cat.5 twisted-pair cables and the last four ports of this D-Link DGS-1210-28 combine SFP and copper connectivity into one port to provide a flexible solution for server connections via fiber interface. Using the default presets, the administrator can quickly set up the switch without worrying about reconfiguring any settings and providing easy access for the user.
Extensive Layer 2 Features
Equipped with a complete lineup of L2 features, these switches include IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). The IEEE 802.3x Flow Control function allows servers to directly connect to this D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch for fast, reliable data transfer. At 2000 Mbps Full Duplex, the Gigabit ports provide high-speed data pipes to servers with minimum data transfer loss. Network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostics. Loopback Detection is used to detect loops created by a specific port and automatically shut down the affected port. Cable Diagnostics is designed for network administrators to quickly examine the quality of the copper cables and also determine the type of cable error.
QoS & bandwidth control
This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch is perfect for deployment in a VoIP environment, as it supports Auto Voice VLAN and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) QoS for VoIP application. Auto Voice VLAN will automatically place voice traffic from an IP phone to an assigned VLAN and by doing so enhance the VoIP service. With a higher priority and individual VLAN, this feature guarantees the quality and security of VoIP traffic. DSCP marks parts of an IP packet, enabling different levels of service to be assigned for network traffic.
Secure your Network
D-Link's unique Safeguard Engine function protects the switch against traffic flooding caused by virus attacks. This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch also supports 802.1X port-based authentication, allowing the network to be authenticated through an external RADIUS server. In addition, the Access Control List (ACL) feature enhances network security and helps to protect the internal IT network.
This D-link DGS-1210-28 switch includes ARP Spoofing Prevention, which protects from attacks on the Ethernet network that may allow an intruder to sniff data frames on a LAN, modify traffic, or bring traffic to a halt altogether by sending fake ARP messages to the network. To prevent ARP Spoofing attacks, the switch uses Packet Control ACLs to block invalid packets that contain fake ARP messages. For added security, the DHCP Server Screening feature screens rogue DHCP server packets from user ports to prevent unauthorised IP assignment.
Versatile Management
This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch provides a SmartConsole utility and a web-based management interface that enables administrators to remotely control their network down to the port level. The SmartConsole easily allows customers to discover multiple D-Link Web Smart Switches within the same L2 network segment. With this utility, users do not need to change the IP address of their PC and it also provides an easy initial setting of the Smart Switches. Switches within the same L2 network segment that are connected to the user's PC are displayed on screen for instant access.
This allows extensive switch configuration settings and basic configuration of discovered devices such as password changes and firmware upgrades. This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch also supports D-View 6.0, D-Link's own Network Management System, and Compact Command Line Interface (CLI) through Telnet. CLI management of the switches is possible via Telnet. This makes the adjustment of basic settings like password changes or firmware and configuration file uploads possible.
D-Link Green
This D-Link DGS-1210-28 switch implements D-Link Green, an innovative concept that provides energy savings whitout sacrificing operational performance or functionality. D-Links switch reacts when devices attached to it are turned off, by placing the corresponding port in a standby mode that requires less power. It also automatically detects the length of connected cables, which allows it to cut power usage on shorter cable connections up to 20 m.
D-Link Green certification ensures that the switch complies with the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) and WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directives. RoHS restrict the use of specific hazardous materials during the manufacture of electrical and electronic goods, while WEEE applies standards for proper disposal and recyclable packaging to help reduce wastage.

Discovery and notification
D-Link Insight will track all the devices connected to the smart switch and list them by MAC, IP and switch port. Insight also provides alerts to notify you when more devices are found on the network. Each client device's operating system can also be fingerprinted. -
Configuration management
Simple, automated configuration management creates a backup of the switch settings for easy restore. Return to the last known state or bring a device online without cumbersome configuration. -
Alerts
Always know the status of your network through Insight alerting. Should one of your web smart switches go offline or reboot, you're immediately notified. No more guessing or waiting for an outage report. Configure smart list alerts to inform you when unexpected computers are discovered on the network. -
Active compliance monitoring with insight plus
Windows and Mac OS clients are screened by D-Link Insight Plus, which acts as an active security sentry to validate compliance to policies on a client's operating system patch level, firewall, antivirus and anti-spyware. Reports and alerts provide you with the data you need to properly determine status and access privileges.
