Description
Connect your SATA drive to an IDE motherboard. This IDE/ATAPI to SATA adapter lets you connect a SATA drive to a motherboard IDE/ATA 33/66/100/133 port. The IDE/SATA adapter offers a cost-effective solution for bridging the gap between a newer SATA drive and older motherboard designs, allowing you to connect newer SATA drives to an older IDE motherboard port and in turn eliminating the need to upgrade the motherboard for the sake of compatibility with the drives.
Saving time and hassle, the IDE to SATA adapter can be connected through simple plug and play installation.

Boot to SATA from old drive
Reviewed by Robert Govier. Review Posted 02/04/2009
I have an old Shuttle SN41G2 with only IDE connections, which I wanted to upgrade with a big hard drive. I didn't want to spend my money on a drive I couldn't transfer to a new computer in the future, so I purchased a SATA drive from Dabs and a Pata to Sata cheap from ebay. After getting two adapters DOA from Hong Kong I decided to spend a bit more on this item from Dabs. This was the right move! The adapter allows me to boot into Windows XP from the SATA drive with no additional drivers required. I haven't noticed any speed issues, and the adapter is small enough to fit inside even the cramped shuttle case. My only criticism... £20 seems high but I guess that comes with peace of mind from buying from a UK retailer with a good reputation!
