SAL1650 is a high quality standard telephoto lens, ideal for wide range of everyday applications, including portraits, travel, landscapes and general-purpose shooting. Bright F2.8 maximum aperture allows creation of smooth background defocus effects (bokeh). High performance optics achieve versatile zoom range in light, easy-to-carry lens body. Internal SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) drive achieves exceptionally fast, quiet autofocus - ideal for stills and HD movie shooting. Aspherical lens elements and ED glass elements suppress aspheric and chromatic aberration for superb resolution and contrast. Rugged weather-resistant design with interlocking seals protects against effects of dust and moisture.

To reduce chromatic aberration at telephoto extension, correcting certain wavelengths of light for sharp, clear images with well defined colors. -
Circular aperture
Because aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.
