Description
The DES-1210-28P is the first PoE switch in the Fast Ethernet Smart III series. Equipped with 24 Fast Ethernet ports, 2 Gigabit ports and 2 additional Gigabit copper/fiber combo ports, this switch integrates the features of the successful Smart III series with PoE and the PoE+ functionality. With an easy to use web interface and eco-friendly design, the DES-1210-28P helps customers to quickly and easily deploy their networks, saving energy and money.
The DES-1210-28P is the ideal solution as an advanced edge switch for SMB and enterprise networks. The 4 additional Gigabit ports allow for fast and reliable copper or fiber uplinks to the rest of the infrastructure. The Asymmetric VLAN support will provide access to shared resources such as servers or the Internet, without complicated VLAN configurations. Additionally, the innovative AutoVoice VLAN feature allows for easy integration of 3rd party IP phones, placing VoIP traffic in a separate VLAN, thus ensuring the quality and security of VoIP traffic.
The DES-1210-28P complies with the 802.3af PoE standard, and the recently ratified, high-power 802.3at standard. This gives you extra flexibility at deploying appliances such as wireless Access Points, IP cameras and VoIP phones in your network, even in mix-vendor environments. For added flexibility and power-saving, the DES-1210-28P integrates the Time-Based PoE feature, which turns off the power when it is not needed, for example, at nights or during the weekends. This means that PoE-powered devices which otherwise would be always on, can be switched off centrally, saving power and money.

Seamless integration
The web smart switch is designed to provide SMB users a complete control over their network. With Ethernet and Gigabit copper ports capable of connecting to existing CAT5 twisted-pair cables, these switches eliminate the need for a complex reconfiguration process. The DES-1210 series allows for flexible connection to a backbone or servers. Additionally, all ports support auto-negotiation of MDI/MDIX crossover, eliminating the need for crossover cables or uplink ports. -
Extensive layer 2 features
Equipped with a complete lineup of L2 features, these switches include IGMP Snooping, Port Mirroring, Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP). IEEE 802.3x Flow Control allows servers to directly connect to the switch for reliable data transfer. At 2000 Mbps full-duplex, the Gigabit ports provide high-speed data pipes to servers with minimum data transfer loss. Network maintenance features include Loopback Detection and Cable Diagnostics. Loopback Detection is used to detect loops created by a specific port and automatically shuts down the affected port. Cable Diagnostics allow network administrators to quickly examine the quality of the copper cables and also determine the type of cable error. -
QoS and bandwidth control
These switches are perfect for deployment in a VoIP environment, as they support Auto Voice VLAN and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) QoS for VoIP. Auto Voice VLAN will automatically place voice traffic from an IP phone to an assigned VLAN ensuring higher priority for voice traffic. With a higher priority and individual VLAN, this feature guarantees the quality and security of VoIP traffic. DSCP marks parts of an IP packet, enabling different levels of service to be assigned for network traffic. With Bandwidth Control, network administrators can reserve bandwidth for important functions that are high priority or require a larger bandwidth. -
Secure your network
D-Link's innovative safeguard engine protects against traffic flooding caused by virus attacks. These switches also support 802.1X port-based authentication, allowing the network to be authenticated through external radius servers. In addition, the Access Control List (ACL) feature enhances network security and protects the internal IT network. The DES-1210 series supports ARP Spoofing Prevention, which prevents the network from being cut off or eavesdropped by hackers using faked ARP that pretend to be PCs, servers, routers or gateways. For added security, DHCP Server Screening screens rogue DHCP server packets from user ports to prevent unauthorized IP assignment.
