iPad helps a major retailer hit new customer service heights

PetPad lets colleagues off the leash

BT Expedite (BT's specialist provider of IT solutions for the retail sector) worked closely with Pets at Home to build a business case for transformation of the way they worked. Their main aims were to move from paper to digital forms; to free up colleagues from the back office to spend more time with customers; and to improve the overall customer experience. Pets at Home chose iPad because they wanted to implement the most up-to-date, market-leading device available. The new PetPad, as it became known, was soon embraced by store colleagues who saw the tool as an opportunity to improve in-store customer service in more ways than one.

"I would class the PetPad as a fundamental change, on a par with the introduction of barcodes or chip and pin".

Apple devices revolutionise patient care

BT helped Nottingham University Hospital to transform by combining Apple Devices running on the iOS platform, with a powerful software application called Nervecentre.

A tightly managed deployment schedule saw BT deliver 150 devices a week to staff, all set up and ready-to-go straight out of the box. This revolutionised the way the team worked - and helped to dramatically improve patient care.

"BT provided over 4,000 devices that worked immediately. The Nervecentre software was on there and personal email addresses were already loaded. All people needed to do was turn on and get on with their work."

"We’ve established a vastly more efficient and productive workforce. In parts of our organisation we’re seeing engineers remove 40 minutes of unproductive time per day. That means each of them can connect two extra customers to our network every week."
