Reasons to upgrade memory and storage
It’s a complicated decision, but the main reason organisations choose to upgrade rather than replace is due to cost effectiveness. Doubling a system’s memory often costs 75% less than buying a new system1. This makes upgrading more appealing to IT managers and guides their decision instead of replacing their devices.
When to upgrade your SSDs and RAM?
- Computers are upgradeable; they’re either still using a hard drive and/or you can install more RAM in the machine
- Your budget is limited and/or already earmarked for other projects and expenses
- New technology is on the horizon, and you’ll be able to take advantage of it for less in the near future
- Upgrading your SSDs and RAM helps to maintain the technology your employees are already comfortable using
- Employees primarily store data on the business network, making it fast and easy to install SSDs
- Your employees can have a quick, affordable fix to slow computers
Over 350 IT professionals were asked if they would rather upgrade or replace their devices, and more chose to upgrade systems instead of replace them2.

SSD
SSDs can offer exceptionally quick performance because of their stripped-down design. This allows rapid performance, meaning that you won't have to wait around to access your files. Where standard hard drives can sometimes take a few seconds to get fully up to speed, SSD drives are raring to go immediately and also use relatively low amounts of power.
